Flint Rasmussen brings his popular show Outside the Barrel to SiriusXM. For 20 years, Rasmussen has taken real life and made it entertaining. “Sometimes I think outside the barrel and that’s what I want to bring to my radio show,” he continued, “I want people on Friday evenings as they drive to a rodeo, basketball or a football game to tune in. They can listen and be entertained through education.” Listen on Rural Radio channel 147, Sirius on demand, and Sirius XM app!

Get to know RURAL RADIO host Flint Rasmussen in our exclusive Q&A:

OMAHA, Neb. (RFD-TV) Flint Rasmussen has built a successful career after making his first appearance as a rodeo clown at a rodeo in Superior, Montana, at the age of 19. The official Entertainer of the PBR and multi-award winning ‘barrel man’ has also found success at RURAL RADIO. Flint lives in Montana with his wife and two daughters and travels year round with the PBR.

RURAL RADIO caught up with Flint to find out what he thinks about his time behind the mic.

Q: What do you like most about hosting on RURAL RADIO?

A: The thing I like most about hosting is the opportunity to share knowledge of things I have been involved with my entire life. I love to give listeners the chance to learn the personalities of athletes, musicians and comedians that they might not have known before.

Q: How did you get your start in Radio/TV?

A: My start stems from my hosting a live stage show the last few years, “Outside the Barrel” in Las Vegas at the PBR World Finals and at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. This gave me a background in interviewing, which carried over to radio. Randy Bernard felt that this skill and my personality in the arena would combine to make good radio entertainment.

Q: What was your favorite episode or guest of the first radio season?

A: My favorite episode is one that was simulcast on both RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO. On my live stage show in Vegas, Justin McBride called up legendary country music artist Moe Bandy to help him sing ‘Bandy the Rodeo Clown,’ an all-time favorite.

Q: What can listeners look forward to in the next year on your show?

A: Listeners of “Outside the Barrel” can look forward to more great guests from all disciplines. I will have more musicians talking about what they are up to, more western athletes with tips, advice, great stories, and even more personalities that I look up to. And don’t forget my strong opinions on everything!

We had to ask some fun questions too!

Q: Favorite food?

A: Italian, Mexican, and a good burger.

Q: Favorite vacation spot?

A: I wish! Loved Maui a few years ago. I love sitting in the sun, with a drink, in the bleachers of a major league baseball game.

Q:What’s your guilty pleasure?

A: A glass of red wine in the evening with nothing left to do but visit and think.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about summer?

A: Montana mornings. Going to rodeos with my wife and daughters and just being behind the scenes.

Q: I can’t help but turn up the radio when “Wanted Dead or Alive” comes on.
