This weekend on “Outside the Barrel,” host Flint Rasmussen continues his tradition of chatting with country stars and other musicians in-studio. Tune in to your favorite Friday evening radio show to hear from country singer and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year in 1982, Sylvia.
You may know her from her hit single “Nobody,” which became more popular than she could have ever imagined. The tune sold 2 million copies, hit No. 1 on the Hot Country list, and remained on the charts for a total of 52 weeks!
Sylvia discovered her love of music as a child and spent over two decades as a highly successful singer and songwriter.
After a 14-year hiatus from music, Sylvia jumped back into the studio and plans to release her new album “All in the Family” on Friday, October 7th! Sylvia comments, “This isn’t ego talking – it is absolutely the best record I’ve ever made and I say that from a heart and soul place. I just can’t hardly wait for people to hear it.”
The new album is intended to pay homage to Sylvia’s grandparents, Kirby and Minnie, who led her to the love of music. Minnie’s brothers performed with Kirby at barn dances all across the Macon county area of Tennessee. Sylvia’s grandfather passed down his fiddle and banjo to her, both of which are featured on the new record.
