Want to keep up with the National FFA Convention & Expo?

Get LIVE coverage on RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO throughout the rest of the week (Oct 19th-21st)! Over the last few days, FFA Today has met with important FFA specialists to get an inside look on the exciting things to look forward to throughout the convention.

Hear about all things FFA related on our weekly broadcast, “FFA Today”.  The show airs on Saturdays at 7:30am ET and again on Sundays at 5pm ET.  Tune in LIVE, online, or via the Sirius XM app to Channel 147.

Cindy Hefner, program manager for the National Officer Management Team at the National FFA Organization joins us on “FFA Today.”  Each year, everyone looks forward to the grand reveal of convention’s theme song to set the energy and tone in the arena for the next four days.  This year’s song is based on the convention’s theme, “Transform,” decided by the officers, who had to describe what that word meant to them in the context of developing agriculture.

“FFA Today” contributor and host of the Off-Farm Income Podcast, Matt Brechwald interviews Scott Jacobs, Career Development Events (CDE) education specialist, who manages the CDE competition process at the National FFA Convention.  Over 3,000 FFA members participate in 25 different CDEs throughout the convention.

“FFA Today” correspondent Micheal Clements catches up with Keisto Lucero, Education Specialist for National FFA, who gives a behind-the-scenes look into the officer selection process during the National Convention.  A selection committee is created through nominations of current National FFA participants, followed by a series of interviews and practice speeches.

Have you ever been north of the 49th parallel?

That’s where the Canadian and U.S. borders meet. With one of the largest bilateral trading relationships in the world, these two north American neighbors enjoy $47 billion worth of agricultural trade annually. But what do these similarities and differences in both countries mean to modern day farmers and ranchers?

Screen Shot 2016-10-10 at 12.19.58 PM.png

Introducing “RealAg Radio,” the new show that explores both sides of the 49th parallel, highlighting the Canadian and American ag industries to demonstrate how they are directly linked through trade agreements, waterways, and integrated value chains and how current ag issues affect farmers and ranchers in both countries.

Produced by RealAgriculture.com, “RealAg Radio” offers ag enthusiasts everywhere an opportunity to learn about and experience an inside look at North American agriculture. Hosted by ag experts Shaun Haney and Kelvin Heppner of RealAgriculture.com, the new series will feature the latest headlines from around the world of ag and include discussions on current events, markets, agronomy, machinery, farm management, and cover real time issues impacting broadacre farmers, beef and dairy producers, and agriculture in general. The series will feature agriculture experts, weekly topical segments, and special guest interviews to bring listeners a deep dive view of the agriculture news they need to run their daily operations.

“Since 2013, RURAL RADIO Channel 147 has been providing excellent rural programming to SiriusXM subscribers. Canadian agriculture is a critical part of the North American market and “RealAg Radio” will share that story,” said Haney. “We’re excited to connect RURAL RADIO listeners.”

“RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO are always looking to expand our Canadian content and “RealAg Radio” is a huge step forward to help fill the demand from millions of our viewers and listeners who want more information,” stated Patrick Gottsch, Founder & President of Rural Media Group, Inc. “We look forward to working with Shaun to not only better serve our large, and growing, television and radio audience in both Canada and the U.S., but just as important, to increase the variety of crops being covered while providing exposure for other market perspectives as we strive to report on worldwide agricultural conditions.”

“RealAg Radio” segments will mirror what readers and listeners of RealAgriculture.com have come to expect, from dynamic coverage of world-class conferences, to in-depth agronomic know-how, and on to insight and commentary into current events shaping the global agriculture industry.

“I find that whether you are in Carrot River, Saskatchewan, or Franklin, Tennessee, you are faced by many of the same issues as a farmer or rancher. Market conglomeration, access to credit, and volatile commodity prices are faced by all growers no matter where they farm or ranch.” – Shaun Haney, founder RealAgriculture.com.

Catch “RealAg Radio” weekdays at 4 p.m. ET on RURAL RADIO Channel 147 on SiriusXM. For more information, go to RealAgRadio.com or RealAgriculture.com. To get the full schedule visit RURALRADO147.com.

Catch Up with Highway 101 Singer, Paulette Carlson

  • September 26, 2016
  • by RURAL RADIO 147 on SiriusXM
  • · Channel 147 · Interview · Music & Entertainment · People · Programming · Schedule · Shows · SiriusXM

Last week on “Outside the Barrel,” host Flint Rasmussen had the wonderful opportunity to hang out and chat with Highway 101 lead singer, Paulette Carlson.  Throughout their career, Highway 101 recorded four No. 1 singles, 10 Top Ten Hits, and was nominated for two Grammy awards for “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Single”.

Ever since she was a little girl, Paulette knew she would grow up to marry a cowboy and become a singer/songwriter.  She grew up in Minnesota but decided that if she really wanted to make it big, she’d have to commit herself and move to Nashville.

After having great success in the music industry, Paulette took some time off from her music career to be a mother and wife but tells Flint she never stopped loving music.  “This is who I am, in my world, I am a singer/songwriter”.

The family has been living in Montana, but Paulette recently returned to Nashville where she has acquired a manager and a PR firm and plans to begin touring again.  On her first concert back, Paulette said it was like she never missed a beat – she just loved performing for people, no matter where or when.

Outside the Barrel with Flint Rasmussen airs on Fridays at 5pm ET and Sundays at 1pm ET on Sirius XM Radio Channel 147.
